U11 Turquoise 24/25 - London City Strikers
Today the u10 Turquoise made the trip to newly formed London City Strikers. With temperatures hitting nearly 30° before kickoff we kept the warm up simple with some passing and first touch drills followed by some stretches.
First quarter
Straight from the start they pressed hard and kept the ball in the oppositions half for nearly the full first quarter. We were close to taking the lead early on with a well taken low corner by Chloe that traveled all the way through the box that was marginally missed by a few players. Luckily the girls didn’t have to wait long to be rewarded with their hard work. Harmoni with a well taken corner from the opposite side deflected in by the oppositions keeper.
We continued to dominate well with all of the girls passing well and bossing the midfield. Thea managed to find a diagonal pass through the middle to switch the play and found Harmoni waiting out wide ready to receive on the right. With a well take touch she set her self up perfectly for a nicely taken shot.
Zuzanna was like a rock today winning nearly every ball she contested and covering so much ground in the midfield and defence.
Second quarter
Similar to the first we made sure we kept up the same tempo and kept the possession well with Ella Louise making some amazing runs into the box, perfect one touch passes and cutting in well from the wing. London City managed to break through with a counter attack but Thea and Chloe both intercepted and won the possession back. The ball then fell for A’ja on the edge of the box who struck the ball well but unfortunately hit the keeper. Luckily the deflection fell well for Harmoni to strike and add to her tally.
Third quarter
London City came out flying and determined. By this point they had started to gel and strung some good passes together and began to press well. Luckily for us we had our superstar Lily at the back dealing with everything that came her way. Even in todays heat she just didn’t stop.
Final quarter
Similar to the third quarter London City came out and were determined to break us down.
This finally meant a chance for Bella to get involved in the game. They had a few low chances but she dealt with them perfectly.
Her goal kicks low and wide out to Lily were pinpoint perfect and Lily managed to receive each time on her furthest foot to then travel up the wing to pick out the wide midfielder further up the pitch.
Final action of the game came from some more great footwork from Lily followed by great vision to spot Harmoni waiting on the edge of the box to slot home her third of the day.
The girls carried on their great play all the way through to the final whistle.
