U13 Orange - Meriden Lions

23/3/25 league game.

U13 Orange 3 - 6 Meriden Lions.

Always gonna be a tough game against a very good team that play football the right way.

At the start of the season, this is 1 of the teams that we'd be happy to take 3 points from 2 games against, as they've always been tough to play against.

Complete opposite of last week against the same opposition, when we scored 3 early goals.

Today was their turn to get the early goals and ours to find a way back into the game.

3-1 down at halftime but still in the game as long as everyone stayed positive and supported each other. All the boys have done that so well this season, which has got us into the position we're in.

Unfortunately a bit of negativity started to creep into our game, which hindered the team effort that has served them so well in the previous games since our last defeat in October.....11 wins and 1 draw in our last 12 league games before today.👏👏👏

So proud of everyone, as with only 1 sub, a few of the boys played in different positions today.

Superb performance from Charlie before he went off injured, keeping us in the game in the 1st half with some outstanding saves.

James, Toby playing CB together for the 1st time today, with SamC also playing there.

SamF causing lots of problems with his pace and runs in behind, thoroughly deserved his goal and unlucky not to get at least 1 more.

Jake for his goal when pressing the GK and hitting the bar.

Ruben and Luke for never giving up and playing their positions so well, and Luke for standing in for Charlie in goal when he went off.

We go again and just need 1 win from our last 3 games to mathematically guarantee promotion, which we're more than capable of achieving IF we stay positive with each other and play as a TEAM.

Everyone has been fantastic this season, so let's hope the boys get the reward they all deserve.

Also a big thank you to both sets of parents and coaches for encouraging the young ref at the start of his journey.

He may have got a few things wrong, but with such a good bunch of people around the pitch, he'll be able to learn from it without having been exposed to any abuse from anyone.👏👏👏
