Boys U9's Hurricane - Kineton
Stockton Juniors Under-9s Hurricanes recorded their first victory of the season in dominant fashion courtesy of a 6-1 triumph at Kineton.
George Brady and Freddie Ali both bagged a brace, the latter making it four goals in two games, while returning captain Dom Weedall also got on the scoresheet, adding to an early own goal from the hosts.
It was a fully deserved triumph for the Hurricanes, who bounced back in style from their opening-day defeat at Leek Wootton with a display full of attacking intent.
Stockton showed their intentions from the opening exchanges, George hitting the inside of a post after just four minutes, before opening the scoring shortly afterwards as Dom’s right-wing cross was inadvertently put into his own net by a Kineton defender.
And it was no surprise when the Hurricanes doubled their advantage in the 14th minute, Dom getting his name on the scoresheet with a super finish into the top corner following a solo run.
Murat Karakaya, parents’ player of the match, saw his penalty well saved by the impressive Kineton ‘keeper, before Leo Williams went agonisingly close from distance.
But the visitors’ third goal did come just before the interval as Freddie capitalised on a defensive error to put Stockton firmly in command.
The Hurricanes continued where they left off after the break and Finley Prestidge stuck the crossbar from an indirect free-kick, before George made it 4-0 from the penalty spot just moments later.
Kineton’s keeper continued to impress and the home side reduced the arrears courtesy of a penalty of their own in the 40th minute.
But Stockton were immediately back on the front foot and Freddie bagged his second of the morning with a fine finish into the roof of the net.
And there was still time for Dom to put another spot-kick over the crossbar before George wrapped up the scoring with a close-range finish in injury time.
