Khalsa Lions v U9 Hurricanes

Stockton Juniors Under-9s Hurricanes recorded their biggest victory of the season as they triumphed 7-0 over Khalsa Lions on Saturday.

The Hurricanes stormed into a commanding five-goal lead by half-time courtesy of a brace from George Brady and further strikes from Leo Williams, Finley Prestidge and Freddie Ali.

Stockton came up against a resilient Khalsa side after the break, boosted by an additional player and an impressive goalkeeping display, yet extended their advantage following an own goal before Dominic Weedall rounded off an impressive morning.

A clinical display in the final third combined with a maiden clean sheet of the campaign ensured the Hurricanes, who recorded an 8-3 victory over the Lions last weekend, have now won three of their opening four matches this term.

The visitors raced into an early lead inside the opening five minutes as Leo swept home from close range following a corner.

Finley doubled Stockton’s advantage shortly afterwards, converting a well-taken finish low across goal having been sent clean through by Rafa Lewis after Leo won possession in the middle of the park.

The Hurricanes were playing some free-flowing football and George made it 3-0 in the 17th minute, latching on to Dominic’s throughball following a strong challenge before applying a finish into the roof of the net.

Freddie duly added a fourth just two minutes later as he embarked on a great solo run before finding the net with a low strike, which was replicated by George as he surged towards goal and fired into the top corner – establishing a 5-0 advantage at the interval.

The hosts provided a tougher test after the restart and Leo was twice denied from long range by the Khalsa goalkeeper, while Rafa went close from six yards out.

But Stockton added a sixth when George’s left-wing cross was put through his own net by a Khalsa defender in the 48th minute.

And it was left for Dominic to cap a superb team display as he drilled into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area in the latter stages.

Well done, Hurricanes!

A great attacking performance and brilliant defensive display - which stems from every save, each tackle, all the tracking runs and blocks across the entire pitch!
