U8 Calcio Talent and Select - Tekkers York A

U8s were 3-1 up after two periods but unfortunately lost 7-3.

The opposition were Tekkers "first team" and as a group, overall they were better than us on the day. The lads were really resilient for the first 25 mins and then finished the second period on top. Everything was positive going into the last period.

Technically & tactically we were second best (not by much) and once Tekkers pulled it back to 3-3 our heads dropped and we struggled to stay in the game.

As a collective we stopped defending with the same desire and made some poor decisions in possession that we hadn't seen in the first two periods.

Our desire to defend our own goal was excellent for the first two periods with everyone desperately trying to keep the ball out of the goal.

The players responded really well to Tekkers first equalizer and our confidence looked to be growing which was noticeable in the way we were committing to attacks. This was a short spell of dominance that led to two good goals.

Competing with a good team for 34 minutes was positive & shows progress but obviously the last period was disappointing and something we have to learn from going forward when we play the better (more ruthless) teams.
