Ok, it is unusual for the ref to be putting up the match summary but there are important lessons learnt that I wanted to capture.
Perhaps this is the 3rd or 4th time that we are going up against teams that have bigger squads and at half time we are either draw or come on top winning, but it all crumbles in the second half and it all comes down to fitness. The lads were great in the first half but in the second half because they are tired they are not running back to close the gaps or challenging the balls like they do in the first half.
Yes we will have to grow the squad to have more bench strength but please encourage them to go out for an extra run or bike run or even in the garden to improve their fitness specially with the weather getting better.
Second lesson is discipline of being on time for match preparation, the opposition full squad was there 1 hour before going through their warm ups and tactics we need to be on time when we say we are going to meet so we can be prepared and warmed up.
Parents Player was Marley, again he showed guts and was putting his body in the way to prevent the opposition putting passes through.
Coaches Player was Jake, he was making runs up and down the left side and when we gave him feedback at half time he listened and put it into action.
Thank you everyone for all your support. I know it was not the result that we were hoping for. Our mission is to learn and improve.
