Boys U10's Lightning - Harbury U9's
Stockton went into this game with only seven players available, one of which had most of the week off school with a bug, in hope that each player could play a full game.
Stockton struggled to get out of their first gear in the first half and conceded goals through good play from Harbury. As the half went on, Stockton picked up a few minor injuries, but the players were determined to stay on the pitch and not let their teammates down.
A few words of wisdom from Stocktons well experienced coach, Huddy, completely changed the boys attitudes going into the second half, and before long pulled a goal back. Stockton continued to pile on the pressure creating opportunity after opportunity and finally got their reward past a good Harbury goalkeeper.
A tense last two minutes for both sets of coaches and supporters as the game opened up in hope for another goal, and that came from Stockton with pretty much the last kick of the game. There was a big cheer from the home supporters and coaches as the Stockton players fully deserved their final reward.
The Stockton players all worked their socks off with each player giving everything until the final whistle. So much pride went to our players from our coaches and parents as they shown what good teamwork is all about, and helped each other get to the final whistle. They all deserve to be player of the match!
