Girls U12's Lionesses - Narborough Foxes
First game of 2025 and first game since first weekend of December 2024 on a very cold morning at Stockton.
Having beaten Narborough Foxes 0-1 on the first game of the season we knew we were in for a tight game.
The game started with both teams playing some neat football in the cold conditions. Chances were created by both teams in the first half but neither team took these to open the scoring in the early exchanges taking us to half time at 0-0.
Without captain Peyton, Lacey was made captain for the game and lead the team from the centre of defence really well throughout the whole game.
The second half started very much as the first until the opponents started to put us under a little bit of sustained pressure and we struggled to get up the pitch like we did in the first half.
The pressure resulted in the opponents opening the scoring midway through the first half with a scrambled goal after a cross from the right.
Our girls stuck at it and were unlucky not to have a clear run through on goal which was ruled offside, and Layla had a chance to pull one back which the keeper saved well from.
Emma battled really well in midfield against a well organised team alongside teammates, Sophia, Mona, Scarlett and Elysia.
Just was not to be our day when the opponents scored a second as we were pushing for an equaliser.
Credit to all the girls on a bitterly cold day for putting in the effort against a well organised opponent !
Hopefully we will now be back into the swing of things for the rest of the season.
