U13 Purple 24/25 - Letchworth Garden City Eagles

Today we played Letchworth Garden City Eagles at home - 10.00am kick off. Another very physical game.

Starting line up - 3-3-2

Alessia , Amelia, Lexi - Defence

Holly , Isla , Gracie - Midfielders

Sarah, Nyah - Attack

Started the game with some good passing, but an early run from the opposition nearly ended with a goal - luckily it went over , wake up call for our defence. Before too long opposition took another run at us, but no goal.

Deadlock was broken in the 15th mins , with some good battling from Isla and pass through on to Gracie, who tapped it in - GOAL ⚽ 1-0

Opposition didn't give up and kept attacking and ended with a great save by Ella.

At 22 mins , opposition was rewarded with two goals in quick succession ⚽⚽ - 1-2

End of 1st half was approaching, and we swapped Sarah for Katie at the front. Katie made an instant impact. Gracie and Isla both setting up Katie 4 times , but Katie couldn't find the back of the net. But our spirit remained strong 💪

Half time 1-2

2nd half saw more of the same, end to end football. A much more physical 2nd half saw our team get frustrated and our concentration dipped, rewarding the opposition with another 2 GOALs ⚽⚽ 1-4

We were not done yet, a corner kick from Holly set up Sarah to tap it in - GOAL ⚽ 2-4 

Opposition didn't give up and tussled their way through, striking the ball at Ella , who initially made a saved , but ended up going through her legs. GOAL ⚽ 2-5

We changed things around , Katie came on for Sarah up front , and we moved to 4 at the back with Tarnie Lee and Amelia defensive midfielders. This proved to be good setup. Katie again making a great impact, this time rewarding her with two goals , set up by Nyah and Holly respectively. GOALs ⚽⚽ 4-5

Defence held up well, but we couldn't stop another run by the opposition, and some confusion in defence led to another goal by them - GOAL ⚽ 4-6

With 5 mins left , the girls were not done , and a knock on by Lexi from defence to Nyah at the half way line , led to a great run by Nyah, who took on 3 players and popped one in the net - GOAL ⚽ 5-6

With seconds ticking down , we were awarded a corner , and threw everyone at it - mad scramble in the box , but we couldn't find the net

Full time - 5-6

A cracking game , which saw the girls show amazing spirit and resilience. We couldn't ask any more from the girls - they made us proud 💜
