Girls U11's Wildcats - Kenilworth Kestrels
Today was game 32 of the season and our final 7 aside match before we move to 9 aside football and after a great season the team put in a solid performance in a close fought match. Missing 5 players today gave everybody the chance for more playtime.
We were a bit short of defenders for the day so our most experienced defender Hollie was tasked with helping and talking Naomi through the game at the back and both of them were fantastic throughout the match, blocking balls into the box, winning the ball back, intercepting passes and getting the ball forward. This was by far Naomi’s best performance in only her 12th ever match and winning a really well deserved player of the match award!🌟 A huge well done to Hollie as well! 👏
Behind them in goal 🧤Captain Elsie, in between making a number of superb saves and diving on the ball at every opportunity, was shouting encouragement to the team as we pressed forward. Another really strong performance in goal winning both the parents player and players player of the match awards! 🌟
Further forward everybody else put a great shift in, putting pressure on the opposition, lots of good skill on show, some nice passing and movement and each player had chances to score! We had a lot more efforts at goal than Kenilworth throughout the match and were unfortunate not to score more.
These 2 teams will meet again in 2 weeks, next time at 9aside and if we can take our chances we can be confident of winning the game.
