Boys U10's Lightning - Warwick Colts u9's
This original fixture was cancelled, with a reschedule for 13/01/2024 to be played at Stockton.
Stockton went into this game having lost only one of their last six games, so confidence is showing with the boys. This one was our first game back since Christmas with the worry of the long break effecting their recent good form. The boys didn't disappoint.
Within three minutes of the the game starting, George picked up a loose goal kick and nicely slotted the ball in the back of the net. Shortly after, a fine goal kick from Charlie was met by a perfect first touch and run to take on two defenders, finding top bins, was a contender for goal of the season from Albie. With this lead, the boys eased of the gas, allowing Warwick to play some good football and thanks to a top save by Charlie, Stockton went in half time with a clean sheet.
A change of GK at half time allowed Charlie to chip the Warwick keeper from way outside their penalty area, again a contender for goal of the season. Stockton continued to pile on the pressure, and with some smart play, Jenson scored a quick double putting the game out of reach for Warwick. Olly slotted in a deserved goal late on to secure another fine victory for Stockton.
Credit to Warwick for not giving in and made the Stockton defence keep well alert until the final whistle. The Stockton boys are really impressing both coaches and parents with their hard work and dedication at training, showing on a match day their progress as individuals, and as a team. Each player put in a top performance.
