Hawthorn United - Normanton Magpies

Hawthorn continue their good run of form against a resilient Normanston Magpies. 

Hawthorn started the game with some good possession but not really testing the Magpies keeper. Normanston were starting to grow into the game with a few half chances that went over the bar or wide. In the later part of the first half Hawthorn started to ask questions of the Normanston back line and keeper when they had chances hitting the post or being smartly saved by the Magpies keeper. Scores were level at the break. Second half saw a more end to end feel to the game with Hawthorn getting the goal they deserved, it came in bizarre fashion coming from an Owen Stannard corner kick that seems the Magpies keeper couldn’t deal with. Shortly after Hawthorn got the second and looked in full control but the tenacious Magpies came back into the game after some sloppy Hawthorn defending made the last 10 minutes very interesting. Hawthorn went on the seal the win and keep Magpies at bay from getting the equaliser. 

Hawthorn now have a well deserved break this coming week and focus their attention to a tough away trip to Southwold on 8th October.
