U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Harvesters
Today we made the away trip to play harvesters.
Being a team we had never faced before we were unsure what to expect.
The girls warmed up really well. Great attitudes and all seemed fully focused.
First quarter we passed the ball well and had the majority of the possession.
Going into the second quarter level we asked the girls to stay focused and keep doing what they were doing.
Unfortunately we went behind after a scramble in the box was poked over the line.
Half time and the girls came off deflated as if the game was over.
We reminded them we need to battle all the way until the end but we never seemed to recover.
Second half the girls all looked broken which was hard to see. This led to Harvesters capitalising.
We reminded them that they pulled two goals back the week before in the second half and we can’t switch off.
We came close with a few efforts on goal with Ja’laysia even managing to hit the post late on.
There were still positives to be taken from today. Some excellent passing from the girls, the communication and movement in the first half was excellent.
Paris and I saw lots of things that we feel we need to discuss and focus on in training over the next few weeks.
I feel as the girls knew it was their first cup games the emotions were running high.
Sometimes it’s not nice to see them upset but it showed just how driven they all are.
Potm today went to Ja’laysia.
She showed great determination to win the ball and made some amazing driving runs up the right wing.
POTM Ja’laysia 🏆
