SWR U12 Girls - Redfearn JFC U12
SWR Girls U12’s 4 -2 Redfearn Juniors U12 💙💛
A third straight win for the girls to start the season.
As the girls will no doubt tell you, it was a tough game against physical opponents, but they didn’t let that put them off and worked extremely hard to put in a very good performance.
We controlled much of the possession and always looked dangerous when going forward and could have scored on more than a few occasions.
The girls also adapted well to being moved to several different positions throughout the game to cover injuries and illness.
There were a couple of lapses in concentration towards the end of the game but that is understandable and is something we can work on in training.
Thanks to Emily for going in goal for the first half, she kept a clean sheet and then moved to the right of midfield where she got herself a goal with a fine finish.
In defence, Caitlyn, Molly & Ivy performed admirably, holding their line well and ensuring that they played the ball out on the ground to the wide players.
In Midfield, we looked calm and assured, Poppy and Maisie controlled the ball well and looked to get the ball wide to Lola & Amelia. Poppy again got herself on the scoresheet for her second goal of the season.
In the second half, Maddie, Leah, Caitlyn and Amelia all took turns in the midfield and put in a number of good challenges and runs to pressure the oppositions defence.
Both wingers threatened on several occasions and for Amelia’s first game she tormented their left back time and again with her driving runs into the opposition box and was very unlucky not to get herself a goal. She was the well-deserved Coaches Player of the Match.
Liv played up front, and continued her good form with 2 more goals and could have a few more if it wasn’t for the actions of the opposition goalkeeper making several good saves. Liv was described as ‘a cheat code’ (those of us who play computer games will understand this) by the Opposition manager and was voted their Player of the Match.
Thank you to the parents for bringing the girls and for your support with the raffle (thanks Katherine for organising) and football cards, the referees fee was £20 so we have pretty much covered that with the monies raised which is fantastic.
Coaches Player of the match - Amelia
Opposition player of the match – Liv
