SWR U12 Girls - Howden Clough Juniors
SWR U12’s 5-1 Howden Clough Juniors U12’s 💙💛
A fantastic performance for our first home game of the season.
We dominated the opposition for long periods of the game, created numerous chances up front and were also very solid defensively.
All the girls gave everything in the game, especially considering some had been on School residential this week so who knows how much sleep they have had recently.
Firstly, well done to Sienna in goal, it’s a difficult position to play but she put in a very good performance.
The defence was superbly marshalled by Isla A & Molly, there was lots of talking and organising between them, which limited the opposition’s opportunities on goal.
Special mention to Caitlyn for a goal saving challenge towards the end of the match, great covering from right back to get across and put the tackle in.
Maddie & Leah put in solid work at the back, held the line well, and both Lola and Emily looked to get forward at every opportunity on both wings with some excellent runs and play.
In Midfield, Maisie put in a Coaches player of the match performance, the epitome of a box-to-box midfielder, helping her defence and then looking to get forward to support the attackers and capped in off with a well taken goal.
Poppy & Isla S worked tirelessly to control the midfield, lots of really good ball control and touches and created lots of chances. A lovely taken goal from Poppy, from a little indirect free kick routine, topped off her performance.
Isla S got herself a hat-trick with some excellent finishes and could have had more as time and time again she played the offside system well and got away from the defenders. She was well deservedly named the oppositions player of the match.
In Attack, Liv put in a strong performance, closing down defenders, making runs and creating opportunities for her fellow attackers.
As always, plenty of positives to take from the game and a couple of things we can look to work on in training to improve on.
Many thanks to the parents for bringing the girls down and hope you enjoyed the game.
Also, a note regarding the referee, he was 15 years old, and it was only the 3rd match that he’d refereed. I thought he did an excellent job, and I will be contacting him/his parents to see if he wants to come and referee some of our home games in future.
