U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Harefield
Today the U11 Turquoise hosted Harefield.
Last season we had some tough close encounters so we knew today was going to be a tough fixture.
First half of the game was a real battle in the midfield with both teams giving it their all. Chances were created at both ends but the keepers stood their ground. We came close early on with Thea’s great footwork. Twisting and turning then a great burst of pace into the edge of the box only to be denied by the keeper.
All the way to halftime both teams looked to break on the counter and strung together some great passing.
We dealt with this well with the wingers staying focused especially when out of possession. Over the last few weeks we’ve spoken to them about making sure they keep an eye on the player they’re marking and not to watch the ball. This payed off and was great to see them tracking back to ease the pressure on our two centre half’s.
We created another great stand out attack just before half time that saw Nylah and Lola-Rose combine with excellent one touch passing but we couldn’t find that final break through.
Half time we kept it simple and reminded the girls how well they were playing. We couldn’t ask for any more effort as they were all 100% committed and aslong as the effort and attitude stayed the same they would get their chance.
Second half was a similar story to early on in the first half both teams were not for quitting. We started to create more chances for ourselves and we knew it wouldn’t be long before the deadlock was broken.
With ten minutes to go zuzanna stepped up to take a corner. With a great ball into the box it took a big deflection off a harefield player and looped into the far corner. ⚽️
With that bit of momentum it spurred the girls on even more.
Every 1v1 situation the girls made sure they didn’t stand off and kept them under pressure and started to force mistakes.
Lola Rose with one of her great lung bursting runs broke through their back line unfortunately to be denied by a great save from the Harefield keeper. With only a few minutes to go the ball was deflected back out of their box and luckily for us zuzanna was ready and waiting. With a great strike she was rewarded for all her hard work by finishing the game off. ⚽️
Bella in goal with Lola and Mia in defence they were called into a lot of action today. Any pressure that came their way they made sure they were first to every ball and were faultless. The defenders shielding of the ball and composure when under pressure really stood out. Anything that found its way through to Bella was dealt with superbly. Her low down dives and speed she got off her line in 1v1 situations made a huge impact today.
Every girl really gave it their all and played their part 💜
POTM as always is a tough call especially on days like today. We couldn’t just pick one player.
Zuzanna playing 3/4 at centre mid. Attacking play always looking to play the ball forward for the striker and wide players and popping up in great positions.
Defensively used her speed to always track back and broke down countless attacks from the opposition. Final moments of the game she saw the rewards for all her work by finding the back of the net ⚽️⚽️
Bella absolutely faultless today. Anything that came her way was dealt with excellently. From her positioning, low down saves and being on her toes to run out in 1v1 situations. A well deserved clean sheet 🧤
