U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Bury Rangers
Today the U11 Turquoise hosted a familiar opponent in Bury Rangers.
The game started off well with us pressing as a team and managing to force the Bury keeper to make some good saves including a low driven strike getting caught just between her legs. Late into the first half both teams were playing the ball long and it was end to end. Unfortunately we got caught on the counter with an overload and Bury took the lead just before half time.
Halftime Paris and I mentioned how important it was not to get caught
ball-watching. Players were being drawn towards the ball then stopping in open space. This then resulting in unmarked players being left in open space.
Second half nothing seemed to flow.
We were allowing Bury too much time to pass the ball around. When we were out of possession we continued to get caught ball watching again. When in possession we were all playing as individuals and staying on the ball too long. Players were making good runs with good movements but we were trying to do too much alone.
It was an uncharacteristic performance from us as we’ve began to pass the ball really well as a team lately and the reading of the game was completely off today. We will have a debrief on Tuesday with the girls before training and work on what we felt was lacking.
We both agreed straight away about this week’s POTM. Bella in goal made some excellent saves after being called into action throughout the entire game. Her distribution and positioning was excellent. Well done Bella!
