U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Broxbourne United

Today we hosted Broxbourne United.

I was a bit apprehensive before today’s ko. We played each other a few weeks back and although we were the better side in the first quarter of that game when we fell behind we let our heads drop and couldn’t get back into the game. 

Fast forward to today. 

Same group of girls but all with more self belief they turned up and gave it their all till the final whistle.

The game started fast and was very end to end. We managed to control the midfield and pressed well and had a few early chances on the break. From our last game we knew they used the width of the pitch well so each girl knew they had to make sure they stuck with their player and held their positions well. 

We were unlucky as Broxbourne took the lead with a goal we could have dealt with. The girls heads didn’t drop and carried on battling hard. 

With some great play up the wing Thea and Lily passed the ball well resulting in Lily putting a perfect cross into the box for Harmoni to slot home to bring the game back level. 

Me and Paris kept the team talks short and simple and asked the girls to go out and continue playing great football.

Unfortunately in the last quarter Broxbourne managed to find another goal.

We pressed and defended well right to the final whistle but it just wasn’t our day.

Even though it wasn’t the result we wanted the girls proved they were as good as anyone today. 

These last three weeks the team spirit and solidarity between them all is a pleasure to watch and shown that any issues people try to portray is none existent in this squad. They’ve shown so much improvement as a team and we all couldn’t be prouder.
