U15 Turquoise 24/25 - Garston
Garston 6 Goffs Oak Girls FC 3
This was a really excellent game and our girls put in a hell of a performance. As their Manager I am so proud of them this week. All 14 girls played well and put in a real shift.
The first half started with Goffs on the front foot and we create a number of good chances but just couldn’t put one away. Garston somehow came out 3-0 up at half time after only having 2 real shots - the third a charged down clearance that unbelievably went in!
we came out for the 2nd half in much the same vein and again created chances. This half we managed to take three. Chloe getting a brace including one where she brilliantly anticipated a poor goal kick and nicked in to score. The other goal was from an indirect free kick in the box for a back pass. Bryony expertly teeing up Tilly to smash home. The scenes from the sidelines - fans and coaches alike - were great when we scored the goals!
We also were given a penalty for hand ball with the score at 5-2 but their keeper made a great save from Carolyn and Chloe hit post from a tight angle on the rebound. 5-3 and we may have pushed them even harder!
Unfortunately a couple of sloppy goals conceded meant we couldn’t ever quite get on terms.
Some interesting officiating in the 2nd half didn’t help and our lack of luck was evident again (that has to change soon). We picked up a couple of knocks as well which didn’t help.
Notable performances from Bryony, Chloe, Megan, Tilly, Erin and our debutant Sofia but POTM goes to Carolyn (excellent at the back and joined the attack whenever possible) on what was unfortunately her last appearance for the U14s.
So many positives to take this week but also lots to work on too. Onwards and upwards!
GOFFS on 3…..1, 2, 3 … GOFFS
