MR U13 NL Silver 2024/2025 (Market Road League) - United Dragons Red
EFA started the game with high intensity pressing which resulted in EFA winning the ball early on and a long ball from Leon put Obi through on goal to put EFA 1-0 up. Throughout the first half EFA put themselves into a lot of tough positions with rushed passes going to the opposition and holding onto the ball too long in the midfield made Kevin make a few big saves to keep them 1-0 up going into the half time break.
The second half didn’t start as planned for EFA as United Dragons Red were able to easily travel into the final third and find the bottom corner, 1-1. From this goal United Dragons red picked up some momentum and a lot of chances were coming their way, big tackles from Lucas and more saves from Kevin kept the game at 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. With 10 minutes to go EFA played more narrow with wingers tucking in to create an overload in the midfield, this allowed EFA to keep the ball better and a shift of momentum occurred for EFA and was playing much better football. With a high press from EFA, Obi was able to win the ball from a United Dragons Red defender and then calmly slot the ball through the goalkeepers legs 2-1 to EFA. With 5 minutes left to play United Dragons Red put a lot of pressure on EFA defenders making the midfields drop deeper. Hard work from Leule, Ardian and Ibrahim in the midfield helped Leon and Lucas defensively to keep United Dragons Red out. In the last minutes of the game United Dragons Red found a gap in EFA defence but with a massive save from Kevin saw EFA walk away the winners with the
game ending 2-1.
Things to improve on next time:
When we have possession of the ball we need to be calmer and not rush the passes.
Try not to get into arguments on the pitch with the opposition and allow the referee to sort it and play your game.
For goal kicks don’t run away, drop deeper and always be an option for a pass.
Well done to all players involved, worked very hard to the last minute.
Thank you to all the parents have a good weekend :)
