Girls U12's Wildcats - Coventry City

It was a tough day for the Wildcats against a very good Coventry City academy side today but the girls gave there all and fought hard for the full 50 minutes.  Two goals within the first 8 minutes, the second from former player Orla Bull made it a really uphill battle from the start.  The team battled throughout and some solid defending from all players and save after save from Emily B limited Coventry to a 3-0 half time lead after a great strike for Coventry's third goal in the 14th minute.  The team did build into the game and the second spell of the first half saw the team get into some advanced positions with a couple of half chances.

In the second half the girls posed more of a threat with some great attacking runs from captain Olivia and Lily without being able to complete the final ball up to Alice R.  Coventry added another two goals in the first 10 minutes of the half before a dubious penalty conceded by Bella only for Emily B to save from the spot.  The best opportunity for Wildcats came mid way through the second half when they overloaded Coventry and Olivia's cross found Lily on the edge of the box but she was unable to get a shot off and the attack came to nothing.  One final goal 8 minutes from time saw Coventry complete there tally.

Full time 6-0

A great battling performance from the girls beaten by a good side but we can take away positives of working hard and never giving up and some things to work on in training.
