Rising Hope Cobras (Year 9 Sept 2024) - Desborough Panthers
Been a while since I've written a buzzing report like this but here goes... (expect a long one lol)
So again we lost a player before we started with Dyllon damaging his ankle yesterday and not being able to take part today. We wish him a speedy recovery. So up stepped Manuel Neurer... sorry Nathan. Boy did he show his versatility today, some blinding saves and communicating all the time.
Our defence started with Jake, Ryan, Daniel and James and everyone of them battled and won everything. Ryan taking a big kick just before half time, also apologies for not getting him back on but didn't want to change anything in the final few minutes with all the excitement. Fair play to him though yelling instructions from the side like a coach. Eric slipping in there in 2nd half and bossed it.
Our midfield generals first half with Cole and Eric were like having Rodri and Busquets protecting the back line. Both winning battles and Cole celebrating every big tackle by himself or his team mates like he'd just won the world cup. Jude slipped in there second half and showed his class on the ball and reading of the game.
Our front 3 started with Seb down the middle, Tyler and Josh on the wings and the ever battling and creativity of Chrissy in behind them. All 4 of these pressed so hard today that our first goal came from that high press forcing a mistake that Josh took advantage of.
We went in at half time 1-0 up and had to high five every player and say thank you for showing how right I was last week when I knew this squad had so much more than they showed last week against the same team.
2nd half started well and soon we were 2 0 up with again our aggressive pressing, this time from Tyler winning the ball in their half and setting seb up through middle, he lost the ball but it popped out in front of him and he won the race against the keeper (who trained with us in summer and decided not to join us) that's 2 in 2 for Sebby and Josh this season.
We gave a poor free kick away mid way through the 2nd half which to be fair to their number 10 hit an absolute better which no keeper was saving. It made an exciting end to the game and Nathan and James between them made sure it didn't become 2-2 in the dying minutes before their keeper made 2 blinding save to stop us making it 3-1.
No player of the match today because we had 13 battling, passionate boys today. I feel jealous of all you parents having that car ride home with those buzzing boys. I just drove home in silence and yelled when I got home to Susan lol. (By way I don't want to keep any of your boys having said that lol)
Anyway onto the next round of the County Cup for the first time ever I think. Enjoy your Sunday and the week ahead.
With Passion Comes Hope ❤️❤️❤️❤️
