Kites W10 Ladies Softball - Petersfield
Clanfield Kites enjoyed the sunshine, great facilities and, as ever, a wonderful welcome from Petersfield W10 ladies for the Hampshire W10 South East Division match on Sunday 19th May. Both teams played with fantastic spirit, showing some great cricket skills in what was a great match.
Clanfield won the toss and decided to put Petersfield in to bat. Despite some resilient batting from Petersfield, the first seven overs delivered seven wickets, including a double wicket maiden from Lydia Windebank. Rachel Martel, Charlie Hawkes and Annabel Ryan then pushed the score on for Petersfield, with ten runs each. Clanfield contained Petersfield to a score of 240 for ten wickets, helped by some excellent fielding including a great diving catch from Nicky Prosser.
Clanfield's Sue Andrews and Norma Hathaway opened Clanfield's innings in style, moving the total quickly on to 241 after their four over spell. Sue Andrews top scoring with 30 runs, including five boundaries. Clanfield's batters continued to move the score forward despite some strong bowling, including Charlie Hawke delivering 2 wickets for just 7 runs. Despite some really energetic fielding from Petersfield, including many diving saves on the boundary, each Clanfield batter scored boundaries. Lily George, Sarah Lydford and Emma Hart all hit 6s, with Emma completing her innings with two 6s and a 4 in her last three balls. Clanfield finished strongly on 374 for 4 wickets.
