U11 Black 24/25 - Berkhampsted Rangers
After a friendly last week the U10 blacks were back in league action today with an away fixture to Berkhampstead raiders. Goffs oak started the first quarter stronger with much possession and some lovely passing in midfield but we just couldn’t break the berkhampstead defence who stood strong, Jessica had very little to do and the quarter ended goalless,
The second quarter was the complete opposite as Berkhampstead came out very strong and dominated the play with their winger proving to be the main threat, eventually their persistence paid off and a shot just went under Jessica’s grasp 1-0 to the home side, This was going to be a test of character as Goffs haven’t had to come from behind in a while, the quarter played out with not much further action at either end so at halftime we had it all to do. After a team talk the girls came out believing they were well in this game and it wasn’t long before we broke away and with Elsie on the edge of the area she got her shot away early which found the bottom corner and scores level at 1-1, The girls were now confident and with Sarah and Eileen started to dominate midfield with plenty of energy and with some neat passing between Elsie and Lois they always looked threatening, but it was a corner that came back to Sarah and from a tight angle almost by the corner flag she managed to bend it in the top corner which made the score 2-1, with Isabelle Jasmine and Maisie all keeping the Berkhampstead forwards quiet it seemed their was only going to be one team to go on and win and it proved to be the case when Eileen won the ball and passed to Elsie on the right wing after a tussle and drag back she played the perfect ball across to Lois who calmly slotted the ball home for 3-1, if there was a move of the season then this would be a contender, the game was played out with no further goals and Goffs took the victory. The girls fought hard and deserved their victory, For once Jessica didn’t have much to do today which is a testament to Isabelle Jasmine and Maisie who were as solid as they’ve been all season, Sarah, Millie were strong in midfield winning their battles and looking to get forward at every opportunity, Eileen was the engine who didn’t stop and got stronger as the game progressed m, Lois and Elsie were full of creativity and always a threat, The most pleasing part of the game though was the communication between the girls on the pitch always talking to each other and were encouraging one another at every opportunity, A superb all round performance well done.
