U11 Cougars - Badshot Lea
Without a shadow of doubt, some of the best football we've seen this season - from us or the oppositions we have faced.
FC were helped out by Isaac in sticks and Gabe making his league debut for us, both putting in fantastic performances.
The plan was simple - trust the process. Win the ball, keep the ball, enjoy the ball. Make sure we start fast. And we certainly did that. Harry at CM for the first quarter closed down their CB and forced a turnover, Tom P firing home within the opening minute.
J dropping into a deeper role with TC behind him looked a winning combination. Completely relaxed having the ball at their feet around our own area, working with Isaac looking to spring passes out wide to Louis and Jojo on the wings or go direct through the middle into Gabe's feet - it really was a joy to watch.
Isaac made a superb save with his feet after a massive deflection, steering the ball round the post when it seemed destined to hit the net. Just another save for his PotM show reel.
We doubled our lead in the second quarter when Tom P caparalised on a whipped in corner from Ari to slam home at the far post.
Badshot Lea - who I will add are a very good side and had a very close game with Ashford - woke up at half time and after a frantic five minutes managed to draw level.
The boys came in a bit shell-shocked and emotions were high, but once again we asked them to leave everything out there for the final quarter. They certainly did that. J came close from an acute angle, Tom P struck another effort just over. Isaac made a couple of smart saves to keep the honours even.
Although on one hand you could say to draw from 2-0 up would be disappointing, but we will only focus on the positives from this game. Dedication to their role, tireless workrate throughout the team, a commitment to playing entertaining football.
It will come! We trust the process. Final score 2-2.
