U13 Purple 24/25 - Harefield United

💜GOGS U12 Purple v Harefield United💜

Today we travelled all the way the Harefield which is the furthest we’ve had to travel yet. 

after a loss last week the team knew we had to step up our game. Training this week has been to focus on ball possession and using their bodies to protect the ball and we wanted to see this played out on the pitch. 

However the first ten minutes were dire. We weren’t holding our positions and we we loosing possession constantly. We then had a bit of a shake up as Harefield got past our defensive line and took a great shot. Lucky for us sophie caught the ball and that was the wake up we needed. 

Now they had some fire in their bellies and were driving the ball fast, making some great passes and keeping possession of the ball. We were now dominating play, however Harefield weren’t going to make it easy as they were on our tails constantly and really using their bodies to battle, but we were putting into practice what we’d been focusing on and it was working. We just couldn’t find the back of their net. 

Then 25 minutes into the first half, Sophie made a great goal kick out to Holly, who instantly took control as soon as the ball hit her foot. She flew down the right wing weaving in and out of their players. She saw her chance to shoot and made a beautiful cross and hit the bottom corner of the net!! Her first goal of the season! ⚽️💜🦩

half time team talk consisted of reminding the girls to believe in themselves and continue to do exactly what they did in the last 15 minutes. 

On kick off of the second half we were going in to win! The passing was great and there were some brilliant through balls between the wingers and Ella. 

10 mins into the second half we saw some great team work from Gracie on the left wing and Isla in centre mid. Gracie made a lovely pass and Isla was right there to react quickly and shoot! Scoring her first goal of the season too! 💜🎉

We were on fire now. We were given a free kick and Holly struck the ball with great force that it landed right in the middle of the box. The ball came off of their defender and Nyah took a shot but was slightly off target however Ella was there to knock the ball straight in! ⚽️👌🏼

Then 5 minutes later we saw some great work from Nyah who flew down the left wing. She knew Harefield were gaining on her so she made a lovely cross to Ella and then flew ahead. With a great pass from Ella She then took a shot and scored the final goal! ⚽️🎉💜

I was also so impressed with our defence today. They showed real grit on the pitch and that they wasn’t afraid to come out and attack the ball. 

Every single player worked so hard to get the win and we’re seeing improvements each week!
