U13 Purple 24/25 - Hemel Hempstead Town

💜⚽️🦩GOGS U12 Purple v Hemel Hempstead Town 

Today we played away against Hemel Hempstead Blues - a team 2nd in the league and so we expected a tough game. 

Starting Line Up

Sophie - Goalkeeper

Amelia, Lexi , Chelsea, Alessia - Defence

Sarah , Isla, Gracie - Midfielders

Ella - Forward 

We started out well, passing the ball and made an early attempt on goal but it was an easy pick up for the keeper.

4 mins in Hemel ran at us and our defence was open, we were slow to intercept and with a mad scramble in the box the ball hit the back of our net. ⚽ 1-0 to Hemel. 

For the next 20 mins we were working box to box. Our defence got organised and stopped alot of runs at us. After a couple of sub changes Nyah made a great run down the left taking a great shot, but the keeper made a save. Tiarna-lee then picks up the ball, drives it forward through the centre and takes a shot but again the keeper makes another save! Two mins later Gracie knocks a thru ball to Ella but as she was about to pull the trigger the keeper runs out to take the ball away from her feet! We lose possession of the ball and Hemel saw the opportunity to strike just in side the box which hit the back of the net. 2-0 at half time. 

5 mins into the second half Hemel we’re quick thinking and took the chance to strike from a distance scoring another goal. 

Sarah then takes a fabulous corner kick , right in the path of Gracie and Ella but neither could get a foot on the ball. After some decent football Hemel were awarded a corner but we were disorganised in the box leading to a scramble again and the ball in the back of our net seeing us concede another goal ⚽️

We played a top league team and defensive wise we held up well, but needed a bit more organisation. We kept fighting and although our upfront team had a few chances we couldn't quite find the back of the net 😔

We go again next week where hopefully we’ll come back stronger and with a full squad.
