U14 Purple 24/25 - Little Canfield
GOG U13s Purple vs Little Canfield
Another away game and it was the same venue as last week, as we played them in the cup.
After last week’s result we worked hard during the week with even another training session put on. Simple instructions was keep it disciplined and start fast with plenty of movement. The girls didn’t let us down and was amazing the first 5 minutes giving them nothing and moving the ball quick. It didn’t take long-after as Emma played a lovely through ball to Mariah who slots it home to give us the lead. Amazing movement from them all. The girls quickly established the tempo of the game and we were putting in all that extra training. Canfield would always look to pass the ball to their left winger who was quite quick and as she went through one time she shoots low and scores! 1-1
The girls didn’t really let that bother them to much but it happened again a few minutes later with the same outcome. 2-1
Two shots and they score both. The tempo of the game was still fast and Canfield knew we were pretty much still on top. With a little break at the back Mariah was through again this time on her weaker foot and she converts it to level it 2-2. The game was there for more goals and with only two minutes to go before half time Mariah was set through by Jess and again on her left foot she calmly puts it in the bottom corner!

Us coaches was so proud of the girls first half performance, but knew the opponents was still in it. We changed a few positions and went again for the second half.
Second half starts and we quickly control the ball moving it around and putting the pressure on their defenders. Lily J was so strong controlling the ball and sending good balls down the channels. Sofia had their goal scorer in her pocket giving her no time on the ball. Canfield didn’t really show too much during the second half, having one or two moments but nothing serious. But with us still pushing on and all the girls running non stop throughout, we concede a harsh free kick! Canfield player sends it into a dangerous area, the ball skips off the wet surface past our keeper to level it 3-3. Really undeserved in my opinion, especially with only five minutes to play. We try and go again to get another goal but wasn’t able to.

We are so proud as coaches of the way all girls played and the level we stepped up from last week. We go again next week with the same intensity as this week.
