Girls U14's - Solihull Moors U13’s
Another good performance from the U13 girls today, resulting in a 3-0 victory against Solihull Moors.
Down to just 11 players, with a couple of those carrying injuries and colds, the girls carried on with where they left off 2 weeks ago playing some lovely football, building up from the back, playing out wide and looking to fill the box for the crosses coming in.
The girls dominated the first half possession wise but couldn’t make it count, 3 or 4 shots going just wide, until Ila put us ahead with a trademark free kick about 20 yards out, that fizzed past the goalkeeper. Amber then hit the crossbar, a goalmouth scramble was cleared away before the half time whistle went.
1-0 up at half time
Second half began similar to how the first half had played out, the girls dominating the game but not able to grab that 2nd goal until a fine strike from Daisy made it 2-0. Not long after another strike from Daisy gave them a 3-0 lead.
The final 10 minutes we allowed Sollihull a couple of chances which resulted in an amazing save from Freya, full length tipping it round the post, but the game was seen out comfortably for a deserved victory, taking the girls back to 4th position, 4 points off the top with 2 games in hand on those above.
An all round good performance, Isabelle continuing her great season in defence and Poppy having another solid game. What is pleasing, the girls are trying to implement what we are teaching them in training and if it doesn’t quite come off it isn’t affecting their confidence to try again. Very proud coaches and parents.
