AFC Walkern vs GOG purples U11s

14/09/24

The journey to AFC Walkern saw the girls arrive in good spirits in the sunshine and an immaculate playing surface awaiting them

The first half saw a quick start from the opposition with some nice interchange play in the box seeing score early doors.

Good battling in midfield from Lois and Elsie saw the girls try and get a foothold in the game with the opposition still coming forward drawing a good save from Jessica.  The opposition were soon in again after a ball in the box was put home from close range to make it 2-0 to Walkern.  Jessica B continued to make good runs to try and get in behind the well organised defence working very hard.  Ceira and Isabelle tackled well against the opposition very skilful striker with the opposition hitting the post.  With the girls starting to get forward the opposition broke away and saw their number 9 finish top bins from distance.  3-0.

With Amelia and Francesca working hard in mid field the well drilled opposition the pressure continued with the girls working really hard to stop the oppo No 9 who drew another good save from Jessica turning it over the bar.  It was soon 4-0 with a strong low drive finding the bottom left corner.  Another top bins strike from the No 9 saw it 5-0.  More long range shooting saw 6-0 just before half time.  With the ref blowing up to end a tough first half.

The second half saw the girls battling hard with Sarah dropping into defence  and making some good interceptions.  Jessica  B continued to look dangerous on the break with the girls working really hard to contain the No 9.  The girls started to enjoy a bit of time in the opposition box.  Some nice play between Amelia, Francesca and Jessica B saw a chance for Lois which drew a save from the keeper.  On opposition saw them come close hitting the inside of the post from distance with Elsie getting the clearance in.  The girls resolve was finally broken when an amazing long range strike made it 7-0.  A lovely move saw Elsie through on goal and drawing a good save from their keeper as the oppo moved on the attack a run on the left hand saw saw them finish from close range to make it 8-0.  9-0 came shortly after from another close range finish.  The girls continued to get forward to try and get that goal despite opposition pressure but it wasn’t to be.  A tough day at the office never saw them lose heart despite the level of opposition and their hard work never stopped.
