SWR U12 Girls - Leeds 28 Girls U12
A very well earnt first away win of the season for the girls.
The girls deserve an enormous amount of credit for putting in a battling performance, especially considering they all had to play for the full 60 minutes and several of them had been at residential this week.
The game was more evenly matched than last week, especially in midfield but once the girls moved the ball wide and got their passing going, the chances began to flow.
Well done to Maddie for going in goal for the first half, she kept a clean sheet and then moved to the left of midfield in the second half where she put in some good challenges.
The three defenders, Molly, Ivy and Isla A were solid, didn’t let them get through and put it some tough challenges when the need arose.
Isla S & Maisie continued where they left off last week in midfield, lots of touches, tackles and getting up and down the pitch. Both again contributed with goals as well (Isla S 2 and Maisie 1).
On the wings, Leah ran up and down the right side all game, finding space behind their defence and hitting the post twice.
Emily matched that on the left, always making herself available and driving with the ball on many occasions. Emily also volunteered to go in goal in the second half and topped off her performance with a fantastic penalty save in the final few minutes. She was a well-deserved winner of the Coaches Player of the Match Award.
Liv up front, got herself 2 more goals and looked a constant threat to their defence with her running and shooting and was also voted the Oppositions Player of the Match.
Many thanks to the parents for bringing the girls (especially considering the distance and the road closures) and hope you enjoyed the game.
Coaches Player of the match - Emily
