Girls U13's - Coundon Cockerils
The u13 Girls kicked off their league campaign against Coundon Cockerils at home.
In their first competitive game at 11v11, both teams worked hard trying to find a breakthrough.
Coundon found the net first, halfway through the first half after breaking through the middle and their striker finding the far corner of the goal.
Stockton persevered and continued to get at the Coundon Defense. Just before half time, Freya scored our equaliser, lobbing the keeper from range and giving her no chance.
Throughout the second half , Stockton continued to dominate. We had one goal ruled out for an accidental handball, a decision that seemed very harsh at the time.
Soon after, we were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. Unfortunately the shot went wide and we couldnt get our necks in front.
Despite this the girls continued to press for the winner, but just couldnt find the back of the net.
The game ended 1-1, but Stockton were easily the better team throughout. There were lots of promising signs, and at times we saw some wonderful football, and a huge effort from all of the team.
Poppy was the Player of the match, in what was easily her best performance for Stockton so far.
Freya was voted Parents player for today, after a typical dangerous display down the right wing.
overall, a great start to our campaign in Division 1 and lots to be proud of.
