Girls U12's Wildcats - Daventry Town

Wildcats suffered a defeat to Daventry Puma's U11s in a local derby.  The visitors started strongly capitalising on  some poor distribution from the back by the wildcats who were unable to take the pressure off themselves resulting in a 5th minute goal from the visitors.  A corner shortly after was not cleared but instead ended up in an own goal making the score 0-2.  A good save from Daventry's no 7 by Emily B after 15 minutes had looked to keep Stockton in the but 2 minutes later the same player was more successful and again a scrappy goal was unavoidable.  The girls then started to get into the game a bit more finding some better passing down the lines from Amy into Olivia only for a cross to fall slightly behind Alice R who managed to get a shot off but lacked her normal power and accuracy and the counter attack left us overloaded and a third goal was conceded.  Another scrappy goal after 20mins and its 0-4.  Again Stockton start to get some momentum and a good turn and drive from Sophia on the half way line forces a tackle and a second Stockton corner.  A good clearance from Daventry from the set piece and again they break quickly with simple passes to underdo a Stockton defence and score a 5th just before half time.

Half time 0-5

The second half starts and a free kick given away by the defences see Daventry rifle a shot just over the bar.  Powerplay enforced by Stockton who try to bolster up the middle of the park and a few changes in position to try and improve things seems to help.  Emily B makes a good scrambling save after 35mins and then on 37 minutes a driving run from Lily releases Alice R who turns her player takes a touch a smashes a dipping worldie into the top corner to great relief.  The extra player is making a huge difference gaining more momentum through the middle of the park with greater affect down the right hand side with Olivia getting some good runs in but without success from a final ball.  One final attack from Daventry who knock the ball high and an amazingly brave header from Sophie see the ball to safety and the end of the game.
