Girls U12's Lionesses - Cov Sphinx
Really entertaining game vs Cov Sphinx at home today with both teams playing some nice football in the cold conditions.
The Lionesses took the lead from a corner, taken by Erin, and flicked in with the outside of her foot by Emma. The game was end to end and was a joy to watch both teams really going for it in a well-mannered way.
We were unlucky not to score more goals in the first half with Erin close to a rebound after a good save from their keeper.
Sophia had a great shot narrowly wide and Elysia was unlucky not to add to her tally for the season.
Lacey was really strong today in her tackling, holding the ball up and attacking play and was the deserving of the player of the match award. It was a great team performance, and all girls should be really pleased with their individual performances. Well done girls !
Some of the girls played some new positions today to allow them to experience different in game positions. Amalia was our parents player of the match for embracing playing as a striker for a change. Well done Amalia !
The game was decided by a rocket of a penalty from Emma after a handball in the area. Emma struck the ball sweetly into the top corner with great accuracy.
Unlucky not to add to the score-line before full time, but a pleasing performance and look forward to our next game away at Stratford Town.
Well done Bella in goal and Peyton for also playing some of the game as a striker for a change.
Thanks to all parents & grandparents supporting from the sidelines.
