In an exciting U9 matchup, Garforth Villa faced off against Methley United White Lions, ultimately triumphing 5-0. Garforth's goal-scorers were Samson, Asa, and a remarkable hat trick from William Osler.
The first half proved to be a challenging battle against a confident Methley side that showcased outstanding football skills. Garforth's starting lineup included Freddie as the goalkeeper, with William Clapham and William Copley in defense. Samson, Joshua, and Justin assumed midfield and attacking roles, while Asa led the charge as the striker. Despite encountering a resilient Methley defense and some impressive saves from their goalkeeper, Garforth's cohesive teamwork led to numerous goal-scoring opportunities. Samson and Asa capitalised on openings in Methley’s defense, each delivering superb strikes to put Garforth ahead 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, tactical adjustments were made, with Joshua taking over as the goalkeeper. Samson, Oscar, and Charlie formed a solid defensive unit, showcasing exceptional communication and teamwork. William Clapham and Freddie patrolled the wings, while William Osler played as the striker. This half was equally thrilling, with William Clapham's confident dribbling and precise long passes setting up William Osler for a hat trick. Freddie worked extremely hard down the wing and was unlucky to score having had several near misses hitting both the bar and post!
