Open Age Women's First Team - Brighouse Town First Team
A tough game this week saw us face Brighouse Town First Team in the league cup, promising to be a good game for the neutrals
The ladies started fast this week immediately dominating that game from the off and earning a goal through Kitty Lee-Bentham who slipped through on goal placing the ball through the keepers legs, 1-0
After a strong tactical start the ladies dropped their levels and allowed Brighouse to creep back into the game. They levelled the game through making it 1-1 with all to play for.
Half time the game was all level at 1-1 with all to play for
The second half began which saw a pretty level game for both sides with Horsforth failing to re establish there dominance instead playing brighouse at their own game.
This saw Brighouse create multiple chances with the speed of their attackers seeming to cause constant problems. Eventually they broke through on goal to make the game 2-1
Horsforth however, were quick to respond through Lily Stancliffe who broke through on goal chipping the keeper from the edge of the box making the game 2-2
On the day, it was Brighouse who came out victorious making the game 3-2 through one of there strikers breaking through on goal. The game was pretty even throughout and could have fallen either way, something the ladies cannot allow to happen again.
The ladies finished the game chasing a late equaliser which unfortunately didn’t come to fruition.
A big push needed next week against potential title contenders 💪
