Girls U11's Wildcats - Coventry United
At last a long awaited home game today with the team hoping to extend their 5 match unbeaten home run.
It was a really positive start for Stockton in very cold windy conditions and we were the better team for the first 15 minutes creating some really good chances to take the lead as we mostly pinned Coventry back inside their own half. Had we have scored one of those early chances we probably go on to win the game comfortably.
As the weather turned towards the end of the first half though it was Coventry who took the lead and they grabbed a quick second just before halftime. Our defence struggling with the wind and rain driving towards them.
A similar story in the second half - we started well and got into some good positions but were too hesitant to shoot - we simply need to shoot more often - especially when it’s windy like today. That said, we came up against a very impressive Coventry goalkeeper today - their best player.
Captain Hatty was fantastic today - causing all sorts of problems for Coventry. Great pressure, tackling and desire to win the ball back throughout. A really well deserved goal in the second half topped off a player of the match, parents player of the match and players player of the match performance. Awesome! 🌟
Well done also to our volunteer goalkeepers today - Hollie & Emily - and the rest of the team for finishing the game on a high!
