U11 Comets - Twickenham tigers

1q  After the Xmas break we were slow to get back into the game. We started with Dylan in goal for the first half of the game , Henry and Fizaan in defence, Fletcher on the right Josh on the left and Alex in the midfield and this weeks captain Will taking up the striker position. Fairly equal for the first minute or so but with the opposition on the attack they took a quick shot inside the goal area that went through our defence and bounced past our keeper into the net making it 1-0 to Twickenham Tigers . 

However we soon woke up and with plenty of chances to go on the counter attack we won a corner but the defence got to the ball before us and put it out for another corner but eventually went out for a goal kick. 

2q we changed a few positions up and swapped our midfield trio of Fletcher Alex and Josh, with Zaeem on the right , Thomas in central mid and Luca to try out the left wing . Not long after the restart Luca seemed to like the new position with battles to get the ball and chances to run down the wing eventually crossing it to Thomas who hits it home from the edge of the box with Zaeem following the ball but he decide to leave it to roll in the goal . 1-1 

We picked things up again and soon on the counter attack we won a throw towards their goal end. With Zaeem to take the throw the ball soon comes to Luca in front of goal, who uses all his power to hit the ball in the back of the net to grab his first goal for the club ! 2-1

3q A goal keeper change from Dylan to Will for the second half of the game , meant that we went for Dylan on the right wing , Luca and Fizaan in defence , Thomas in striker position, Alex tried the left wing and Zaeem in central midfield. This quarter we stepped up another level with several chances to attack and a few shots on goal from Dylan and Alex but just couldn’t hit the target . 

Eventually Zaeem fancied adding to his goal tally and took a shot on goal making it 3-1 .

4qTwickenham didn’t want to give up and continued to press our defence but every player taking it turns to help defend our goal  with their attacks put a stop to this. 

With The Comets on the attack Fletch was running through in goal and was taken down inside the box earning us our first penalty of the season . We don’t have a set penalty taker and have always said who ever wins the penalty takes it or chooses who takes it. 

Fletcher placed the ball down on the penalty  spot and took a few steps back , but his kick went straight at the keeper . 

Player of the match goes to Luca for trying a new position on the left wing , giving 110% and earning himself his first goal.

To some up todays game , you can have your Ben & Jerrys , your Baskin and Robin but you can’t beat our goal keepers Dylan and Will.
