Girls U11's Wildcats - Daventry Town Puma Cubs

Another good battle for the Wildcats this morning although this time it was our opponents who came away with the win.

After a good opening 5 minutes, Daventry started to grow into the game, winning a number of corners. A couple of their players were very quick on the ball but our defence handled them well. 💪 

Daventry took the lead from a corner midway through the first half, the ball creeping into the net after a good initial save from an unfortunate Millie.

Lots more energy in the second half of the match, Ava nearly scoring her first goal for the team after beating a couple of players and getting into the box.

Hatty also had chances to score throughout the match and the crowd shouted “VAR” after Emily ran down the wing, crossed the ball into Rosie who’s shot was just about saved on the line by the keeper. 🖥️ 🧐 

Daventry grabbed their second goal midway through the second half after a mixup in defence and from there on Daventry did well to really kill the game, taking an age to take any set pieces. ⏰

With 5 minutes to play we switched to 1 defender in the hope of getting a late goal. A humongous dropkick ☄️from Hollie got us up the pitch and led to a last minute corner. We sent everybody forward, including Hollie in goal and with all 14 players on the pitch inside the area a huge goalmouth scramble took place with shots flying in from just about everybody but somehow Daventry managed to keep the ball out.
