Well what a game that was with coming back into 5 a side I was a little worried about how the 10 were going to handle coming back down from playing the 7 a side games, well how wrong was I we started the match off really strong with our passing and movements going forwards was great and goes to show just how much the boys learned from the 7aside matches and how much they listen and take on board. I was really impressed how we started the match being strong on all fronts especially with Anrijs at the back and I would say for the first 12-13 minutes (sub Donnie/Jack) it was a close game from both sides and the deadlock came with Jack making a darting run weaving in and out of their defence before slotting home a sweet left foot, almost instantly though we took our eye off the ball and for a bit and their player same as Jack made a great run to score the equaliser, again from kick off we went straight at them and just before half time bang Jack scores again 2-1 Crusaders.
With the second half under way after a few minutes (Sub Yogi/Kev) the game was going well until again we lost an easy ball and they pressed on to score and make it 2-2 (Sub Dylan/Ruben) The boys held their heads and kept pressing for the ball but were unfortunate to lose to quick goals in succession 4-2 one of which was a run from their on half their player taking everyone on before banging it in, anyways again the boys were fighting for the ball trying to claw it back with Kev going really close with a couple of shots (Sub Kev/Brendan) going forwards I honestly thought that Brendan was going to get his first goal too with a shot that almost went in but was cleared by their defence, Jack again continued to press and fight for every ball and his work rate proved fruitful with another great individual goal 4-3 we are back in it and my heart is going 10 to the Dozen 🤣 I could see Anrijs who I felt had a solid game at the back was getting tired so (Sub Anrijs/Bobby) when Bobby came on he made a great few stops and passes forwards from the ball out of defence and the boys had the belief they could at least get a draw out of the match only to be out done by the skills of that young lad who also score a hatrick to weave on and out and score to kill off the match 5-3
Although we lost I felt really happy after the match at the way our boys handled themselves and fully believe that we are in a much stronger place than we were last season for sure.
