Camden Town v EFA

Wow what a game!

The first half for EFA started in the worst way, conceding very early on through quick wide play from Camden Town’s wingers. A lot of times EFA found themselves in tough situations where the centre backs had to sit deeper which gave a lot of space for Camden Town. Throughout the first half EFA picked up some momentum and had a lot of shots on goal but a handful of great saves from Camden Town’s goalkeeper meant EFA was going into the half time break 1-0 down. At half time players were frustrated due to the lack of goals and not winning but this was quickly resolved through realising that EFA has been the better team and had the better chances but just needed to be more patient with the ball and the goals will eventually come.

EFA came out for the second half as a much more positive team with fullbacks stretching the pitch and creating space in the midfield and attacking areas for Obinna and Leule to get on the ball. At times EFA were caught out in the second half due to holding onto the ball too long but brave defending from Lucas and massive saves from Kevin kept the game 0-1. With 6 minutes to go EFA was looking unlikely to grab an equaliser until a brilliant through ball from Leule set Obinna 1v1, which Obinna was able to calmly slot into the back of the net. This sent a buzz around the team and gave them a belief to go get the winner. With more shots on goal from EFA and dominant attacking play the winner looked likely but this left space at the back which Camden Town capitalised on but big saves from Kevin kept the game 1-1. This was until the last minute of the game Ibrahim played Obinna through on goal who then calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-1 to EFA and topped off with a beautiful team celebration but the game wasn’t finished. EFA then defend brilliantly winning the ball back straight away and seeing the game out. Full time 2-1 EFA.

Areas to improve:

We need to move the ball quicker in the midfield third.

Fullbacks need to support the centre backs more to create an overload this will make it a lot easier to win the ball back and have a solid structure when defending.

Lastly we need to be more clinical in the final third.

Thank you to all parents and players have a good weekend :)
