U14 Purple 24/25 - Little Canfield

GOG U13s Purple vs Little Canfield

Cup game today! After no game last week and with the same opponents from a couple weeks back we knew what to expect from them. 

We started off very slow and second best in all areas in the game. Since the start of the season we have been quick out the blocks, with sharp passing but today there wasn’t anything at the start. We go down to a little sloppy play at the back, but you can let them off because our defence has been amazing all season. With going down early on we thought this could be a wake up call but credit is due to Canfield as they sustained the pressure on us. 

1-0 half time. 

Some strong words to the girls at half time to wake up a little, as a couple weeks back we beat them convincingly. We wasn’t getting no passes together and that’s the main problem. 

We start the second half ok and move the ball a little but Canfield was still strong in the middle, winning each duel. They kept our attackers at bay with some resolute defending and when we did have chances we could execute. 

With minutes passing by we had to go for it a little more pushing more players up top. With that comes a risk at the back and with a little punt upfield we concede our second! The girls were physically drained once that went in but still gave it their best. Special mention to Sofia who has been laid up in bed for the last two days, but still come out and ran her heart out for her team mates. 

Full time 2-0

This was a little wake up call today as potentially we didn’t give them the respect we should have. We play them again next week in the league and will come back stronger. 💜
