Stockton Netball - Seniors - Highway
The A team knew they were in for a tough game against Highway this week, another team that haven't lost a game so far this season...but we were going to change that!
It was obvious we'd had a few weeks off as we had a very tough start, at one point going down 8-1 and finishing the quarter 6 goals behind.
We pulled ourselves together and went on ready to fight (literally in some case, as our GD ended up with a black eye, courtesy of our own GK!)
Our defence had to mix it up against a very tall GA and experienced attacking players, but we put the pressure on and forced them to throw a lot of balls off the sideline and won turnovers. We won all of the next three quarters with some great shooting under serious pressure and a real team effort to dig deep and never quit. We brought the ball down the court really well and despite a few scrapes and bruises along the way, managed to end up winning 38-35.
Although our suporters didn't manage to quite out- shout Highway's army (a marching band would have struggled to do that) we were so grateful for the encouragment and coaching - it made a huge difference to getting us the win!!
