Boys U15 (2010) Premier - Rathangan
Naas got back to wining ways after a poor performance against Kilcock , with a comfortable win against Rathangan in the SFAI Trophy.
Game kicked off at 12,30 and Naas were on the front foot from the first whistle and were camped in the Rathangan half from the first minute. Rathangan battled well and Naas started to get frustrated and get a little sloppy.
Then Ned Keogh decided he had enough and fired in hat trick in 4 minutes. Robbie Fowler type stuff!!!
His 3 goals had a little of everything. Tadgh O Neill played a lovely through ball and Ned placed the ball behind the keeper from 10 yards. The same pair decided to repeat the trick two minutes later, with a near identical goal. Tadgh again played a ball through, and Ned hit a rocket from 12 yards out into the top of the net. Keeper had no chance. The hat trick was completed 2 minutes later, following some excellent work from Evan Malone out left, squared the ball across the 6 yard box, and Ned did the rest. Naas were playing some excellent stuff now, and Evan Malone went close with a glorious header from an Adam Bracken cross. Rathangan keeper then made two great saves, to keep it to three.
Best goal of the half came from a rare Rathangan attack. Matthew McCarthy started the counter attack, moved the ball to Sean Stafford, who moved the ball quickly to Evan Malone , who played the ball to James McGrath. James turned provider and slid the ball through to the on-rushing Tadgh O Neiil, who toe poked the ball past the keeper. 4-0 half time.
Second half was more of the same with Naas completely dominate, but they could not find the net for the first 20 minutes. Ben Harrington, playing in a more advanced role today, went close several times , from shots outside the box. Lochlainn Quinn smashed the underside of the bar following a lovely flowing move.
Number 5 arrived from midway through the half. Lochlainn Quinn was fouled at the edge of the box. Adam Bracken stepped up and slammed a free kick past the keeper from the edge of the box. The 6th arrived from another set piece, Adam Bracken delivered a lovely ball from the right hand side, and Ben Harrington was on hand at the back post to volley in from 6 yards.
Job done for Naas and they can be pleased with the performance but there is still loads to improve on.
Best for Naas on the day were Evan Malone, Sean Stafford, Adam Bracken & Ned Keogh.
