Boys U15 (2010) Premier - Monasteravin

A horrendous wet night with sideways rain, a standard April night in Ireland.
The lads put on a sublime show against a Monasteravin side who did not know what hit them. Naas has kept their title hopes alive and keep the pressure on Kilcullen.
First half
Ben Harrington opened the scoring following good work down the right from Cian Leonard. Cian found Adam Bracken who made a yard in the box, squared to Ben who rifled in from 12 yards. The second arrived 5 minutes later. Cormac Donegan collected the ball on the right, and with typical grit and determination beat his man and whipped in a glorious ball, which Evan Malone met with a bullet header from 4 yards out. Naas were now in full flow and playing some lovely football. The third arrived after 15 minutes, with Adam and Ben combining well in midfield, Adam played a lovely ball down the channel, which Aaron strode onto. Aaron glided past the defender and unselfishly played the ball across the box, for his strike partner-Ned, who made no mistake from 6 yards. The goals kept coming with Aaron getting in on the act, Aaron hit a low drive from 25 yards, which skipped off the wet surface and the Mona keeper could not keep out. The 5th came soon after, Cian Leonard worked some magic on the right hand side, left a couple of defenders for dead and found Aaron in the 6 yard box who made no mistake. Evan Malone added a 6th before half time- a brace for the second game in a row.
On a rare attack, Monasteravin put in a very dangerous ball from a corner, which we did not deal with the second ball, and they pulled one back.
Second half
Weather got even worse if that was possible but the lads kept up the tempo and it was one way traffic again.
It took 10 minutes for the 7th to arrive. Ball fell to Adam who showed composure to get the ball to Max Galvin on the edge of the box, Max made a yard down the left, and found the far corner of the net. Lochlainn got in on the scoring with the 8th following excellent work from Kian Lawlor, swung in a ball, toward the near post, which Lochlainn nipped in ahead of the defender to find the bottom corner. The final goal came following more good work from Kian, who provided another dangerous ball into the box. Max got on the end of it, and hit the back of the net via a deflection of Lochlainn.
The full squad were superb and could not single out individuals on the night. Great to have Donnacha Hickey get 30 minutes after a 4 week layoff.
We go again Thursday!!!!!!
