Boys U13's Spitfires - Alvis Eagles
The first home game in Stockton colours for the U12 Spitfire’s finished in a 1-1 draw against strong, higher league opposition.
With no subs for either team it was always going to be hard going for the boys on a very warm morning.
It proved to be a really even game with clear cut chances hard to come by for either team, although both sides looked really dangerous from set pieces. It was one of these corners which saw us fall behind to a good strike following a couple of blocks and half clearances. Despite new signing Chace almost breaking away a couple of times toward the end of the first half, we went in behind at the break.
The 2nd half started similar to the first before Stockton came to life with about 20 minutes to go. The boys started to get the ball down and pass through the opposition building more and more pressure on the Alvis goal. Another couple of chances from Dougie’s deadly set pieces came and went before a quick throw fell to William, who swung over a cross to the unmarked Chace who took his time before slotting home for his first Stockton goal with just 3 minutes to go.
It ended in a draw, which was no less than the boys deserved for a battling a spirited performance, typified by player of the match, Eddie, who gave 100% from the first whistle.
