Girls U10's - Leamington Lions

A home 7 a side friendly vs Leamington Lions. We’ve tried many times to get a game together and finally managed to get one to go ahead. 

Our a first real 7 a side test against a very good Leamington Lions who have a recent cup win to add to their name.

Leam took an early lead after an effort on goal looked to have been saved at first but Harriet couldn’t keep it from crossing the line. 

The game was becoming a little frantic, we were working hard but too much running around the pitch which was quickly tiring the girls out. 

Although the game was fairly even and competitive  we found ourselves a further goal down after Leam got behind our defence to cross and score and then added a third just before time. 

HT 0-3

Our half time talk was to slow the game down, retain some energy and start passing the ball and to start using the space on the pitch. 

We started the 2nd half brightly and began to move the ball around with some purpose. Daphne & Sienna in midfield were working very hard to retain possession and spread the play. In defence - Edith, and Rebecca were beginning to find their feet in the game. 

We were rewarded with a great goal after good work from Layla to force the ball through to Ivy who ran through on goal to put away a smart finish. 

Comeback on the cards? unfortunately not as Leam added a fourth goal, a strong strike which flew past Harriet. 

Sienna was unlucky with a good effort on goal as was Ivy who hit the post from free kick awarded after a push just outside the penalty area. 

Ivy bagged her second of the game, a very good finish from the right side of the goal, across the keeper and in the bottom left corner. 

FT 2-4

Overall there were some good moments from us today but the new format and pitch size will take some time getting used to as will our formations but we are all excited by the prospect.
