Calcio U9s narrowly lost 7-6 to Evolution Academy.

Today, wasn’t the best football we’ve played but there were loads of positives within that game like our direct play; and ruthlessness to get shots off at goal.

Furthermore, our desire to defend our goal was really good at times with players making some great blocks and interceptions to stop their attacks.

In difficult moments in the game, our energy levels dropped, this gave the opposition more confidence to score.

However, when we gave that extra 1% percent today in the last 5 mins and showed that desire to win the ball, we ended up scoring 3 goals in quick succession; which shows how important it is to have that desire to win the ball.

I thought our team play was good in moments and we created chances from this. But we need to keep playing without fear and be brave to receive the ball under pressure instead of rushing on the ball, we need to stay calm on the ball, as that’s the best way to develop as players and a team.

Overall, there were loads of positives both in attack and defence. For next time, can we be brave on the ball and make good decisions more often and keep having high energy levels all game.
