Boys U13's Spitfires - Nuneaton Borough
Sunday 19th May
Stockton juniors u12 vs Nuneaton Borough U12
Our second game at Nuneaton in the space 10 days!
First half was probably the best half of football Stockton have played all season. Everything the boys have been learning clicked into place. In defence the boys were calm in possession and brave in the tackle. When called upon jensen showed good handling and great distribution. The midfielders had high energy out of possession and played lots of great 2 touch football at every opportunity. The strikers were a constant threat and linked up really well with the overlapping midfielders. Stockton went into the lead through Ben, he picked the ball up just over the half way line and played a good pass out to the left hand side to Ronnie. Ronnie drove into the penalty area and had his shot blocked. Ben had continued his run forward, picked up the loose ball on the edge of the box and with the inside of his foot curled in the ball via the inside of the post.
Half time 1-0
Second half started exactly how the first had finished. Stockton took the game to Nuneaton and created 3 good chances to extend the lead but unfortunately were unable to do so. As the half went on and what looked like Nuneaton playing 4 strikers the boys were unable to keep them out. 3 goals for Nuneaton in the final 15 minutes meant the game finished 1-3.
Despite not winning today's game we saw the boys fulfil the potential that they have as a group. The progress in them this season has been massive and for 3/4 of the game they were the better side. Grassroots football is all about development and the way the group are developing together is such a great thing to watch.
