Girls U12's Wildcats - Leafield Athletic
The wildcats had a very positive start to the season without any warm up games, little training and several change in players. Playing a counter attacking game in the first half the girls soaked up a lot of pressure and worked their way Into the game. Leafield came closest to scoring hitting the post midway through the first half but some excellent defending from Martha and Bella and great saves from Emily B kept Leafield at bay and Wildcats in the game. The team grew stronger and the rotation of midfields Alice S, Lily, Olivia, Emily M and debutant Sophia started to break things down creating a couple of half chances towards the end of the first half for forward Alice R.
Half time 0-0
In the second half the girls starting to put some of the training session moves we have been practicing, playing from the back, getting the ball wide and feeding Alice R more which Leafield struggled to defend. After 28 minutes the ball was again played wide for Olivia to get onto which she pushed into a threatening position that Lily linked onto and rounded the keeper for Olivia to roll into the net. This woke Leafield up a bit as they started to get back into the game which was now end to end and a really good battle to watch. Leafield pulled level after 32 minutes through a good strong finish which Emily B could not done anything about. We continued to push and press more only to be opens up from a long kick from Leafield keeper in the 40th minute. With the game almost over and a final push from the wildcat Leafield broke and scored in the last minute to make it 3-1.
Great support from the parents as always and great energy showed by all players today which I was so proud of. Emily B was voted Managers player of the match by Leafield making a handful of excellent saves and gathers in the box. Lily was voted parents player of the match battling hard in the centre and making some good interception and attacking runs. Girls should be really proud of there performance today on a very hot day
